My earliest memories as a child are being outside surrounded by nature; it was my happy place. When I had my daughter, I exposed her to the great outdoors early on, taking the time to smell the flowers and watch the ants move over the forest floor. When I decided to open Mountain Minis Childcare I wanted to provide a program that encouraged children to explore the environment and discover all that it has to offer. I have a Diploma in Recreation and Leisure Services, a certification in Early Childhood Education and am currently enrolled in online studies to complete my Infant Toddler Certification.

I believe that children learn best through hands on experiences, exposure to new ideas and places, and of course through their play! Thank you to everyone who has participated in Mountain Minis Childcare programs and for believing in me to make this dream come true!

MIEke schrijvers, ece

Hi, my name is Mieke. Originally from New Zealand, I completed my Bachelor's degree for teaching in Early Childhood Education in 2004. I’ve called Whistler home since 2007.

While here, I've worked as a ski instructor teaching a range of programs with children aged 3–8. I was also a colleague at the Fairm ont Chateau Whistler, in a variety of roles, from 2010 through 2016.

My vision for the work I do with children is one of great purpose. I encourage the development of attributes and dispositions that will serve children throughout their lives. Curiosity, inquiry, perseverance, problem solving, creativity, respect and empathy for others, to name but a few!

I cherish being in the outdoors and relish the magnificent ‘playground’ we have! I’m a passionate home cook and baker. I enjoy singing and all aspects of 'make believe' play. I love books and believe nonsense is the best fun!

Hi there – a little bit about me. My name is Mellany and I have made early childhood education my career for the past 13 years. Originally from Queensland, Australia I now call Whistler and Mountain Minis my home. In my down time, mountain biking and snowboarding are what I do for fun. I have always had a passion for working with children in the early years; they teach me something new every day. It is my personal philosophy that all children have the right to become confident, happy learners in a safe environment. I have the most important job in the world.

I’m Natalie, an infant toddler and early childhood educator here, at Mountain Minis. I’ve worked with babies and children for 14 years, and I absolutely love it!

I’m originally from England, but have been in Whistler since 2008. I’ve worked in many different childcare roles since graduating from college in 2006, including ski school, nannying and other daycare settings, both in Whistler and abroad.

Guiding and nurturing children is a great passion of mine, which I find incredibly rewarding. I appreciate the importance of imparting values, equality and empathy to children and believe that a fun and loving environment has a key role in building these qualities. You will often find me singing songs, reading stories or engaging in imaginative play with the children.

I'm really happy to be a part of the Mountain Minis team and very much enjoy working your little ones, as they grow!

Hi my name is Karli and I am very excited to be here at Mountain Minis! I was born and raised in Mission BC. I grew up pretty far outside of town in a lovely home with my two brothers and one sister. Our house backed onto lots of land and forest where my family and I had many adventures. We used the natural landscape as our playground which let our imaginations run wild. I believed this helped shape me into the person that I am today. Nature can provide so many learning opportunities and experience and I am thrilled that I get to now share that with your children. I studied Early Childhood Education at the University of the Fraser Valley and have been an educator for the past three years. In my spare time I enjoy skiing, hiking and live music. Cannot wait to meet you!
